Flashback sports a new design

Flashback Abandonware, one of the oldies in the scene, has finally started to become active again after IDSA’s nagging. To celebrate this fact, they redesigned the entire site, and ditched the good old green layout which everybody probably knows (if you don’t, well, that’s too bad).

Darkside, as quoted: Well, the day has finally arrived! Flashback Abandonware has finally hit the ripe old age of 3 years, and with that I bring you the complete new design, with all the games back online and even one new game – Hocus Pocus! Sometime within the next day or two will bring a page which will just give a brief overlook of the past 3 years, and how the site has formed 🙂

The new design looks good, and even though there are some dead links (which we were warned for by the webmasters), the navigation improved hugely. The fact that the games are sorted on genre rather than alphabet is a big improvement.

Apologies for slow activity on here. Much was ruined by my internet connection being fucked over by my ISP. Thankfully, I’m on ADSL now so I’m back

On an early saturday morn, an email I did receive in which an URL was enclosed. An URL pointing to abandonware.nu version 2. Now, curious as I was, I did visit it, but found an aw.nu#2 which wasn’t finished. Even though I wanted to post the news, I did not, out of respect for Plix. Tee, however, who seemingly got thesame message, had no such moral objections and posted the URL, totally disrespecting Plix’s choice to keep things to himself.

I must say that it was really childish from Tee to post that message, and also that it was childish from the guy who sent that email, whose name shan’t be disclosed for reasons you might understand.

Link-faking @ Space Federations

Even though this ring has been ‘thrashed’ since it came out, mainly because it’s made by a former linkstealer, has thesame (substandard) design as his former linkstealing site, the webmaster of SF still managed to surprise me, up to the point of going ‘Oh my god’ and then snickering. What’s this I talk about? Well…

The ring hasn’t been updated since May, so this is nitpicking, technically speaking, but hell 🙂 Site of the month is Online Gamer. Now, that’s cute, no? Seeing three links to it on the first screen opened made me squint a bit, but that might be because I’m nearsighted as can be. I thought to myself ‘let’s see the member list, maybe there’s some sites I don’t know yet’, and I went forth to see the list. But lo and behold! Everything, literally every god forsaken link linked to the Online Gamer. Every with a capital J! No wonder Space Federations is shit, heh.

Anyway, the moral of this story is that shitty rings don’t survive. Period.

Classic Trash kicked again…

I just had a little conversation with Tox from Classic Trash. It seems he has again received a mail from the IDSA demanding that several games are to be removed. Of course some of these games are not even available for download. As he of course didn’t sound very motivated to continue running the site he did ensure me that he will at least try – one way or another.

My question is – is there really not anything we can do to stop this? They are claiming copyright for something they can’t (only for some games of course) and even tell people to remove game reviews (as there aren’t download links for some games)?!?

Please share your opinion…
